Through social media, James Hollan discovered that Ben Plummer and his family were in need of a wheelchair ramp.  Ben, who has had cerebral palsy since birth, lives with his mother and step-father in Aransas Pass.  Like so many, they lost their home to Hurricane Harvey. According to Ben’s mother, Jennifer Johnson, they have secured a mobile home, but the wheelchair ramp they enjoyed with their previous residence has not been replaced.  Ben is able to walk with forearm crutches, but stairs are a challenge and to complicate matters, Ben is to undergo surgery on both feet later this month and he will be confined to a wheelchair for an undetermined length of time.  When James discovered this information, he knew it was a project for our Rotary Club. The Rotary Motto is “Service Above Self”.  So, on Monday, April 2, at our regular meeting, Ben was presented with a check for $1000.00 from the Aransas Pass Rotary Club to cover the cost of building a ramp.
