Dear District 5930 Rotary Club Presidents:

On behalf of the District 5930 Rotary Foundation Committee, I am pleased to announce that we have established a MILITARY VETERANS SCHOLARSHIP in an effort to help veterans who have been honorably discharged pursue a higher education.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, the individual must be either pursuing or planning to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate in a field related to one of the following areas: Peace and Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water and Sanitation, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, and Economic and Community Development.

Application deadline extended to November 5, 2016.

All applications received will be carefully reviewed.  Potential scholarship recipients will be required to participate in an interview with the Scholarship Committee at the Country Club in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 12, 2016

Detailed information about the scholarship, application process, and interview can be found at:  http://www.rotary5930.org/Stories/attention-veterans. I encourage you to review this material carefully.

Because applicants need to obtain the endorsement of a Rotary club from District 5930 in order to be considered for the scholarship, they are being directed to go to http://rotary5930.org/ClubDirectory to obtain the names of these Rotary clubs, along with their respective presidents and corresponding contact information. Consequently, prospective scholarship applicants will likely be requesting to meet with you and possibly other members of your club to share relevant information in an effort to secure your club’s endorsement.

Thank you very much in advance for your invaluable assistance and support of this very important initiative. Feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.

Juan Lira, Chair
