End Polio Night with the Vipers took place on March 25, 2017 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo County.  The event included six Rio Grande Valley Rotary clubs teaming together with the Western Conference Champions RGV Vipers basketball organization to raise money for the eradication of Polio.

The money was raised by selling sponsorships for tickets to the Viper’s game, with half of the money going to Polio.  The collaborating clubs were:  the Rotary Club of Brownsville, Rotary Club of Brownsville Sunrise, Rotary Club of Harlingen, Rotary Club of Harlingen North, Rotary Club of Edinburg, and the Rotary Club of McAllen with a most gracious thanks going to ADG Elect Joe Garcia of the Rotary Club of Donna.  The event also featured a half-time free throw shooting contest with six of the Valley City Mayors competing to bring awareness and help raise money.  Also lets give a very special, sincere thanks to the City Mayors: Mayor Jim Darling of the City of McAllen (who won the free throw shooting contest),  Edinburg Mayor Richard Garcia, Donna Mayor Irene Munoz, Elsa Mayor Al Perez, Harlingen Mayor Chris Boswell, and former Brownsville Mayor and current Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino.  Team Rotary with its numerous sponsors raised over $25,000 dollars with over $15,000 going directly to Polio.  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation matching helps create a total of over $45,000 going to the eradication of Polio.
