Our District Best Practices Seminar is Saturday, September 20 in Kingsville. Our focus will be Member Development and Retention, Rotary Foundation, and Rotary Public Awareness. For those who have not focused on it yet, let me provide my take on the Agenda of the workshops - and provide you with my “10 Reasons To Come”:
Receive inspiration and “How To Do It” from Past Rotary International Director Ken Boyd, one of Rotary’s most successful membership recruiters (and the creator of the IGNITE Program).
Learn how to make the IGNITE “scorecard” your Club’s best friend and also find out about alternative flexible membership opportunities such as “IGNITE Light”.
Learn how to use public media and social media to publicize and communicate your Club and its activities (including use of hash tags).
Learn how to record and obtain Club information on the Rotary International Website’s “ClubCentral”. (This is now a Rotary International standard operating procedure expected of all Clubs.)
Learn about the District’s big initiatives for Rotaract / Interact Clubs (including District-wide activity scheduled for week of 10/20/14) and the big District Rotary Day Street Party for Polio Awareness to be held in Victoria on 10/25/14.
Hear what is a “Rotary Day” and what your Club needs to do to participate, including samples of flyers and other practical tips.
Learn about the latest procedures and rules for Rotary Grants (local projects and international projects) - maximize your financial leverage for projects.
Learn about the Rotary Foundation Endowment and how to include it in an estate plan (without legal fees).
Find out from successful Clubs as to how they achieve $150 to $225 per member donations to the Rotary Foundation each year.
Find out how an increasing number of Rotarians are giving to the Rotary Foundation routinely on-line with Rotary Direct.
If you have already signed up, please review your Club’s Roster - there are Rotarians (perhaps those new to Rotary) that might benefit greatly from this Rotary experience, but will be reluctant to drive to Kingsville on their own. Please offer them a ride and in the process reinforce or grow a friendship or make a new one. Most people get involved with Rotary because they are “asked” - let’s avoid “empty back seats” in cars coming to Kingsville. Register on-line on the District website.
I forgot to mention, we will also have an Italian cuisine buffet lunch in the University ballroom. See you on the 20th.
Hopefully these tasks and activities have been completed to start the next Rotary year.
Presidents, Officers and Directors appointed, elected and installed.
Presidents, Officers and Directors entered into the district website, so they can receive the notices and information from the district and RI. This is a function available to the current officers (may also be the 2013-2014 officers if you didn't do this before June 30, 2014) by logging into the district website at www.rotary5930.org. If your club has ClubRunner, then entering the information there will allow the names to migrate to the district. If you enter the information at RI through My Rotary, it will NOT migrate down.
If these tasks were not completed prior to June 30, your club may not have access to any of the services provided by ClubRunner, the District and Rotary International. Your President and Secretary will need access at some point during the year. Contact your Assistant District Governor for assistance. Not sure who that is - check out the District Organization Chart.
