Fellow Club Members:

Wow! What a year we have just finished. Congratulations to Governor Art, the District Staff and all of the outgoing Presidents and the Clubs. We have finished the year with record numbers and you have worked hard to achieve your goals. This was certainly a year to be proud of all the accomplishments you have achieved.

Now we start again. New club presidents, new goals, new ideas for club success.  President Ravi has admonished us to BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD. This includes ourselves, our families, our communities as well as the world. All good gifts involve knowing the recipients and their wants and needs. We will assess these needs to determine the goals for our year together.

Rotary Club Central will be the avenue clubs will use to communicate their goals to the District and Rotary International. When I begin my club visits next month, I will access Club Central for your goals so that we can discuss them during the visit.  Rotary is a multifaceted service organization so we will need goals in several areas. Membership, and Foundation giving are always major areas of focus but we consider other areas as well. These include community service, international projects in which to participate, vocational awareness in your communities, youth services to assist the young people to become our future leaders, as well as preparing members of our clubs to become leaders in the Rotary community.

President Ravi has stated that we have been given a great gift: one year to take all of our talents, all our gifts, everything that we are and can become and be Gifts to the World.  Clubs have this year to take that potential and turn it into reality - one year to lead your clubs and transform the lives of others. The time is so short, yet there is so much to be done.

Confucius stated that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.  Let the journey begin.
