Fellow Rotarians,
As I travel around the District I am amazed by what seems like a new found vitality. Clubs are increasing the number of local projects (many with the recommended one per month), exciting public Rotary Days are planned, and many Clubs are significantly increasing their pledged goals to contribute to the Rotary Foundation.
In addition, we are proceeding forward with our District’s five Global Humanitarian Grants and one Global Scholarship Grant - reaching out to help folks that need our help in Mexico, Honduras and India. It is a proud time to be a South Texas Rotarian.
It was great to see so many of you in Kingsville for the workshops on September 20. The next three District events are as follows:
1. District-wide Rotaract-Interact Events. All during October Rotaract and Interact Clubs in our District will be conducing Polio Awareness activities - check out the partial list in the center column of our District websites - please show up at one of these events and show your support for our young Rotarians.
2. District Rotary Day Event. Light Up Rotary 5K Downtown Glow Run and Street Dance - Victoria - 6:30 pm - October 25, 2014. Also posted in the center column of the District website. Register to run - but no registration required to show up for the street party, dance, food booths, Rotary Club booths.
3. District Rotary Foundation Gala Fiesta Fundraiser. Laredo - Saturday evening - January 17, 2015 - join Rotarians from our District and from Mexico to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation and have a great time. (Also, 10 District Rotarians will be receiving special awards).
So let’s work hard on our great projects and also take some time to enjoy Rotary Fellowship and make new Rotary friends.
