Have you fallen into March madness yet? Can you believe that we are almost 3/4 of the way through the year?
Lots going on the share with you. Spring has sprung, the grass is rizz. I wonder where District Assembly and the Conference is?? Why, Laredo of course!
The registration for District Assembly and District Conference is open on the District 5930 Website. This is going to be a dynamic weekend for us and want to share it with you. If your time is limited you can also sign up for either event that weekend. The great folks in Laredo have been working very hard to obtain sponsorships to keep the costs down for these events so please take advantage of this opportunity to share our accomplishments for this year and brush up on your management skills in the training that is being offered. Remember to bring information and photos or your laptop with Power Point presentations to showcase your service projects to share in the House of Friendship. The City of Laredo and the Laredo Rotary Clubs want to share their beautiful and historic city with us. Please come to celebrate our accomplishments, share your expertise and fellowship with each other.
During the District Conference, there will also be a Youth Project for our younger prospective Rotarians. They have decided to work on a service project which will partner with the non-profit "Volunteers Serving the Need" which works with low income veterans. They are asking that we bring personal hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, tooth brushes, razors, etc. to District Conference and the youth will assemble these items and get them to those in need.
The nominations for Exemplary Club awards are due the end of this month. Ignite clubs need to submit their scorecards as soon as possible to Lt. Gov. Luis Cavazos. I will ask that a copy of the requirements be posted on the web site for your convenience. Congratulations to the Padre Island-Corpus Christi Rotary Club for becoming the first Premier Ignite Club this year!!
Remember our 4 Way Speech Contest coming up. Your clubs and areas should be holding your competitions this month and the District Contest will be in Corpus Christi at the Ortiz Center on Saturday, April 2. Check the District Website to sign up for the luncheon following the contest where the winners will be announced. Please come and support our young scholars.
We will also be holding Rotary Foundation Grants Certification training on the afternoon of April 2 at the Ortiz Center in Corpus. Your club must have 2 members certified through this process to obtain a District Grant next year.
