Happy New Year District 5930 Rotarians! It’s hard to believe but the new Rotary year is here. Thanks to immediate PDG Andy Hagan for his inspirational leadership this past year. A job well done!

Moving forward it is time to “Connect the World”, emphasizing all year how Rotary Connects the World through Global Grants, District Grants, friendships, Inter Country Exchanges, and more. If you discover a unique way that Rotary connects your world please let me know so we can share it.

Our District theme for the year is “Rooted in Service”. Service is at the root of all we do as Rotarians. We will discuss this more as the year goes on.
Last weekend, we made connections at the District officer installation as well as did a ceremonial pinning of Presidents-elect. It was a wonderful evening of connecting with fellow Rotarians and other friends and family. Fay and I are grateful to all who supported us through their attendance.

There will be other events during the year that we will strongly encourage you to attend. The first big one is the 4 in 1 seminars on September 21 at Texas A&M Kingsville. This will be a day to immerse yourself in Rotary knowledge in the areas of Foundation, Membership, Public Image, and Leadership. More on this later but this is open to all Rotarians, regardless of their tenure. Please add it to your calendar.

The Foundation District Grants committee will meet July 13 and determine which grants can be awarded and in what amounts. Thanks to all the clubs that submitted applications. We will award the maximum to focus on doing good in our world. The total amount of money we can award is tied directly to the amount of money Rotarians in our District gave to the Foundation Annual Fund three years ago. Thanks to all who gave and continue to give.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as District Governor this year. The District exists to help the clubs and the entire District leadership team is ready to help in whatever way we are asked. Let’s have a great year!
