Not so ho hum anymore.  As a project exhibitor at PETS last week the time was not business as usual.  Here to fore Rotarians would see the banner with the word "Adoption" and run the other way.  This year participants went to all vendors and exhibitors to collect a sticker for their door prize book.  This required making contact with each.  This provided the opportunity for us  to explain what we do.

I can easily say the States of Texas and Oklahoma know what we are doing.  I do believe more became interested and listened than all the other PETS trainings I have exhibited.  This goes back a long time.   I have tentatively scheduled visits to several clubs mostly in the San Antonio and Houston areas, places I have had difficulty making Thanks to all for believing.  a connection.  I can safely say there will be action in all of Texas and a good chance with Oklahoma as well.

An Attorney/Rotarian from San Antonio said it best, "this is one of the top three projects for Rotary Clubs."   There, unfortunately, has bee a failure in our effort.  The State of Texas has realized the success of our project and as a result adoptions are running wild.  We do not have enough Rotary Clubs participating and they have opened this up to all bonified organizations.  Up until now the law allowed only Rotary to have parties for their children awaiting adoption.  Background checks are no longer required.  The credential "Rotarian" is now sufficient.  I am very proud to say We have arrived.  Thank you for supporting this project.  Please take ownership for every child who has been found and accepted into a permanent, caring, loving home was because of you and what you have been willing to do as Rotarians.  You can be very proud for it.
