Post Hurricane Harvey, Rotary District 5930 received $448,870.64 in donations from concern Rotarians and Citizens throughout the United States.  This money was made available to District 5930 Rotary Clubs that had viable community projects to help their community recover.  All a Club had to do was apply for a specific amount of funds for a project that met the Hurricane Harvey Grant Criteria.  An application form was provided and once submitted was reviewed by the District.
The Rotary Club of Aransas Pass applied for and received 3 grants for a total of $17,950.00.   The first was to replace Mario Mireles’ power chair that was destroyed in the Hurricane.  The second was to help 3 area families restore their homes and the final grant was to help provide new Chromebooks to all writing teachers in Charlie Marshall School.  The students at Charlie Marshall had previously received new Chromebooks from CableOne, but the teachers did not.  The Hurricane Harvey Grants received, plus the generous donation of a local Rotarian, covered the costs of the purchase and licensing of the Chromebooks.

On Monday, June 3, 2019 the Rotary Club of Aransas Pass had the pleasure of awarding 7 licensed Chromebooks to Jeremy Saegert, Principal of Charlie Marshall School, one for each of his writing teachers.  As the students return to school in August 2019, the students and teachers will enjoy this new teaching tool.
