Greeting fellow Rotarians, Rotary International’s Theme for March is Water and Sanitation.  Several of our Rotary club are involved in addressing the need for clean water and sanitation in local and international communities.  There are opportunities for your Rotary club to partner with Rotary Clubs currently involved in projects to provide clean and sustainable water supplies in Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala.

The most effective way to leverage your Rotary club’s project funding is through the utilization of our Rotary Foundation’s District or Global designated funds (DDF).
Each year,  all Rotary Clubs and its members are required to complete a District sponsored grant certification training to be eligible to obtain District and/or Global DDF from The Rotary Foundation.

Our District sponsored a Rotary Foundation Grant Certification training in preparation for the upcoming Rotary Year 2019-2020 on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Over 100 Rotarians were in attendance!  The next District Grant Certification training session is scheduled on Sunday morning,
March 3, 2019 as part of the Lone Star President Elect’s training (LSPETS) in Dallas, Texas.

Another Rotary Foundation Grant Certification training will be offered on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at our District Assembly in Kingsville, Texas.  Please refer to our District website (www.rotary5930.org) for more information and online registration.

Consistent with Rotary International’s Strategic plan, we encourage all Rotary Clubs to focus on memberships growth, use social media to post your Rotary story on your personal, Club, and District Facebook account(s) with Rotary hashtags to promote Rotarians: People of Action campaign. This will enhance and highlight our Rotary Public Image.

Also, continue to promote the importance of giving to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund, Polio Eradication, and the Endowment fund.  Please remember that it is everyone’s responsibility to support our Rotary club’s goals and objectives.  This will ensure our overall success and with your help, make this one of the best Rotary years ever!

What will be our lasting legacy as we close this 2018-2019 Rotary year?  I challenge everyone to
  • propose a new member,
  • make a personal contribution to The Rotary Foundation, and
  • Be The Inspiration by engaging in impactful community service projects.
Continue to support our Rotary youth programs. Did you know that World Rotaract Week is March 12-18, 2019?  What can we do to show our appreciation and support of our Rotaract club members as well as your club and university sponsors?

Lastly, Elsa and I invite you to join us in our upcoming District Conference in Corpus Christi and Rancho Viejo, Texas.  We have a number of exciting plenary sessions, exceptional guest speakers, and activities that promise to be informative, inspirational, and motivational.   This is the time we celebrate all of our accomplishments and recognize our superstars and Clubs this Rotary year!

There will also be a Youth conference for EarlyAct, Interact, and Rotaract students to be held in Rancho Viejo, Texas on Saturday, May 4, 2019 (9am till 4pm)!   Please save these dates May 2-5, 2019 and we will provide more details including online registration to open on or before March 15, 2019.

In closing, Elsa and I want to extend a heartfelt thanks for all you do in the name of Rotary.  Together we can and will reach new heights.

Be The Inspiration,

Andy & Elsa Hagan
