Here is one of the most compelling and moving appeals from our newly formed Satellite Club of Port Isabel in Los Fresnos lead by Donald Henderson, Satellite Club chair requesting to be an active participant in some capacity during our upcoming All District & Club conference.

Our Los Fresnos Satellite club has established a Rotary FB, Rotary Club website, already organized and collaborated in several local community events one where they served over 1,700 meals in one afternoon to local families, attended our District Sponsored Peace Symposium and Peace Scholar luncheon, assisted in our Sunrise Brownsville parking lot project that is our major fundraiser.

Donald attended Lone Star PETS for President elects Training with the hope of increasing his club to 20+ members before June 30, 2019 so his club can be chartered as a full blown Rotary Club and he would be qualified to become their first club president.

Such commitment and engagement from so many of our Rotary Clubs makes me proud to be in Rotary and fuels the flames that ignite the Rotary spirit in me! Truly an Inspiration, Andy Hagan
Perhaps our club could provide the invocation for the All Club Luncheon.  I noticed that we are not on the agenda to participate in the area and I would like to be part of it as well.
As you know I was unable to attend last night's area meeting due to guest Rotarians from Honduras who attended our club social last night.

Our club is vibrant and growing and connecting with Port Isabel, Rotary, Edinburg Rotary, Willacy County Rotary and Brownsville Sunrise Rotary.  We have also been serving as noted below.
We will plan on attending the district conference lunch.  Currently we have 16 members and will be inducting 5 new members in April and submitting charter paperwork in April.

Los Fresnos Rotary will become a full club in April “Si Dios Quiere” and this is in great part to Kent Mallquist for guiding our club every step of the way.

Our club having been founding in August 2018  has helped in several community events
  1. Thanksgiving Feast of Sharing with LFCISD and helped provide a sit down dinner and serve to over 700 people
  2. Every Kid’s Christmas with LFCISD and Los Fresnos Church of Christ provided food and drinks to over 1,700 children and families
  3. RYLA- sent three Los Fresnos Students to RYLA Camp in 2019
  4. 2019 Rodeo Parade- built float for the City of Los Fresnos Rodeo Parade featuring Rotary children and guests from community and placed 1st.
  5. Rodeo judging for the cook off

  7. 2019 Charro Days parade- Rotary Club of Los Fresnos float participated in the Charro Days Parade with “God’s Hero’s” a non profit for special needs adults who did not have a float and were invited to be on our float to be part of Charro Days
  8. Hosts talented students from Los Fresnos High School on a monthly basis in our club to expose them to Rotary and allow them to highlight their accomplishments
  9. One of our club members Martin Magallan is representing our club in the District members four way test competition coordinated by Laredo Rotary.
