I hope you and your community are safe and healthy.

I would like to report that ShelterBox is working hard to provide families with shelter and other vital aid in global areas that are most susceptible to, and least prepared for, the covid-19 pandemic. We have active response work going on in Syria, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Somalia, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania.

While this health danger is impacting all of us, people living in refugee camps or makeshift settlements are particularly vulnerable. The pandemic is a complex global challenge, some of which we at ShelterBox can plan for or adjust through, and some we simply can’t under such dynamic circumstances.
ShelterBox, Rotary International’s Project Partner for disaster relief, was founded in the year 2000, and has responded to over 300 disasters in 100 countries providing shelter and life-saving aid to over 1.5 million people. ShelterBox has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 and 2019 for projects assisting families displaced by conflict.

IS YOUR CLUB HOLDING ONLINE MEETINGS?
With so many clubs meeting online for the time being, I would be happy to provide an online program about ShelterBox to the Rockport Rotary club. This presentation covers ShelterBox origins as a Rotary Club’s project, major responses of the past 20 years, how Rotarians around the world partner in our efforts, plus a deeper dive into the current global pandemic why shelter is critical for refugees and what ShelterBox and Rotary are doing to help refugee families prevent the spread of the corona virus. The program is typically 20-25 min with Q&A (can edited for allotted time). It is accompanied by a PowerPoint slide deck.

Simply reply to me with your club info, requested date and time.

ShelterBox is continuing to work across many responses and finding ways to manage health risks in order to continue to reach people who need shelter. As a disaster relief agency, we are determined to maintain our ability to respond through these challenging times. Please schedule an online presentation and visit our website for more information www.shelterboxusa.org

Thanks, and best of health to you.
