Woodsboro ISD and Rotary District 5930 of South Texas made the news for our collaborative efforts to provide and convene an International Peace Pole Dedication ceremony on the WISD school campus with Woodsboro students, faculty, teachers, and community leaders on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.  Read the newspaper article here.

This was the third International Peace Pole dedications of 5 planned for this Rotary year in District 5930!
We will continue to encourage our Rotary clubs to be Rotary peace builders by seeking solutions to the many social and economic challenges in our communities while promoting peace, goodwill, and understanding worldwide!

May Peace Prevail On Earth,

From Elaine Hernandez:
The children served by Woodsboro ISD suffered the damaging impact of Hurricane Harvey (August 2017) and a tornado (March 2018) that left families displaced and buildings destroyed. A Rotary Peace Pole represents the power of resiliency demonstrated when communities come together to address a tragedy and rebuild lives. Woodsboro ISD’s Peace Pole will become a permanent reminder of how Rotary joined in the efforts to strengthen a child nutrition program for junior and senior high school students and provide band instruments and workshop tools to enhance the joy of learning.
