The advent of a new Rotary year means several things for our Foundation, which I will cover in this brief update.

Entering goals

For those clubs that have set goals in Rotary Club Central (RCC), thank you. We need to know what numbers we are shooting for so we can track our progress throughout the year. Remember, half of what we contribute to the annual fund will come back to the district in 3 years to be spent on local and international projects. As of this writing there are 18 clubs that have not entered their goals in RCC. If you are one of those clubs please get something entered as soon as you can.

Scholarship applications

Juan Lira out of the Laredo Club is our Scholarship chair for the district. He is soliciting applications for our three scholarship opportunities this year – Costa Rica, Veteran’s, and Global Scholars. Please promote these opportunities within your communities, especially to local community colleges and universities. These are amazing scholarships funded through District Grants and our Rotary Foundation.

You can find links to these scholarship applications on the home page of our District 5930 website – www.rotary5930.org.

World Polio Day

World Polio Day is Saturday, October 21. The idea is to create an awareness event focusing on Rotary’s efforts to eradicate polio in the world on that day. You can get creative, team up with other clubs in your area, and have fun with it!

For some ideas on events for this day you can go to https://www.endpolio.org/world-polio-day#findEvent. You can even register your event on this page!

Contribute throughout the Year!

As you know the Rotary year runs from July – June. I would encourage you as a club and individual to contribute throughout the year, not just at the end. This makes the contributions more manageable and allows you to track your progress as the year goes by.

Thanks for all you do and let’s continue to “Do Good in the World”!
