INTERACT is a club for 12-18 year olds - either in schools or community centers - who take action, build international understanding, and make new friends around the world. Interact is the fastest growing area of the Rotary family with almost 400,00 Interactors in 14,911 clubs & 145 Countries.

Club membership varies greatly. Clubs can be single gender or mixed, large or small. They can draw from the student body of a single school or from two or more schools in the same community.

Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of

  • Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
  • Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
  • Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
  • Advancing international understanding and goodwill

As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon. Almost 200,000 young people are involved in Interact.

We will be having our Quarterly Meeting of the Worldwide District Interact Chairs Association on Sept 10th for all existing & new District Interact Chairs.
To avoid any confusion there will be 2 separate & different meetings in September.
1.  The first will be hosted on September 10 by the Worldwide District Chair Association (see details below).
2.  The second will be hosted by RI on September 13 & repeated on  September 15.  This is a panel discussion & informational links for training on the RI website.  Two of our members will be on the panel.
To ensure all District Interact Chairs are listed with RI please make sure they are listed in clubrunner & are reported to RI.  PLEASE ALSO send their district #, name & email to me so they are included in all Worldwide District Chair Association meetings & events.
Our quarterly meetings are held to encourage collaboration between members, sharing of ideas - no need to reinvent the wheel, additional training & to explore ideas to promote Interact.
Our next meeting will be on Zoom on Sept 10th PDPT.  For this meeting we will be featuring 4 Districts with Student led Interact District Councils followed by our regular meeting.
Interact will be celebrating their 60th anniversary on November 5th.  We will be planning an event for that day.  If you have any ideas please forward them to me. Further information will be announced at the Sept 10 meeting.
Program Feature for September 10
Quarterly Meeting of the Worldwide District Interact Chairs Association
Among the needs which have been identified among our association’s members is the fact that only a few of our Rotary districts have developed any Interact District organization to link together and effectively support the Interact clubs and their leadership in their districts.  Of those who have some kind of organization, very few have a student-led structure, with an Interact District Council.  Consequently, there has been considerable interest expressed by our members about how a district might develop such a student-led Interact district.
Recognizing that no two Rotary districts, or their circumstances, are the same, our program feature at our September 10 quarterly meeting will spotlight 10-minute snapshots of how four different Interact District Councils function.  The condensed overviews of these successful programs will be presented by the student executive teams from Districts 5150, 5170, 5450 and 5495.  These young leaders are excited about having this opportunity to showcase their Interact District Council programs on such a worldwide stage, and we are certainly looking forward to their presentations.  Their program snapshots will be followed by ample time for questions and answers from any of our members who may be considering the possibility of creating a similar type of organization in their districts.
If you are also interested in hearing what these student Interact leaders will have to say, please plan to join us for this meeting.  It is scheduled to be held from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., Pacific Daylight Savings Time, on Saturday, Sept. 10.
It is the intent of our association’s leadership to include a similar educational feature at each of our quarterly meetings, as well as to plan a future virtual conference designed to give our members a look at some of the most successful Interact programs which have been developed by Rotary districts around the world.  If you have a topic you would like to have addressed, or you have a unique Interact program you would like to showcase, please email that information to Art Harrington,, who co-chairs our association’s Virtual Conferences and Workshops Committee.
In addition to this meeting’s special feature on Interact District Councils, a portion of this meeting will be devoted to our association’s business — including an overview of who we are, and why we exist as an organization, for the benefit of our new District Interact Chairs
